This is because each side is 8 and the arc (using the perimeter of a circle formula) is 4pi.

 circumference of circle:  diameter x PI
   8 x 3.14 = 25.12

25.12 / 2 = 12.56

total perimeter = 24 + 12.56 = 36.56 yards  ( round answer as needed)
