when you multiply a function by -1, what is the effect on its graph?

When you multiply a function by -1, the effect on the graph will be that the line will be flipped. For instance lets say the line had a rise over run of 1/2 the line would be going up 1 and right 2, if I were to multiply that by -1 it would be a rise over run of -1/2 and the line would be going down 1 and right 2.
