Organochlorine pesticides are chlorinated
hydrocarbons used extensively from the 1940s through the 1960s in
agriculture and mosquito control. Representative compounds in this group
include DDT, methoxychlor, dieldrin, chlordane, toxaphene, mirex,
kepone, lindane, and benzene hexachloride.
