due to the Spanish-American war in 1898, the United States needed a naval base in the Pacific and Hawaii was the perfect fit
Wealthy Americans already owns part of Hawaii main crop which was sugar, Hawaii put a tariff on the sugar to raise the price, but the United States got eliminated. Later on the US claimed Hawaii when a new governor or representative came into office
