in order to do this first do distributive property with the parenthesis, so multiply 5 times 3x to get 15x and 5 times 12 to get 60, now we have 15x+60=-15, subtract 60 from both sides to leave x alone and we will get 15x=-75, now divide both sides by 15 and your answer will be x=-5
