divide by 3 on both sides
x+7=3
subtract 7 from both sides
x=-7/3

or something
Distribute the 3 to x and 7.
3x+21

If you solve for x then you would subtract the 21 and move it to the other side of the equal sign 
3x=-21
Divide by 3
x=-7
