Given the figure of a cone:

As shown:

The radius of the cone = r = 5 ft

The slant height = l = 12.1 ft

The surface area of the cone = SA

[tex]SA=\pi(r^2+rl)[/tex]

Assume pi = 3.14, and substitute with r and l

[tex]SA=3.14\cdot(5^2+5\cdot12.1)=3.14\cdot85.5=268.47[/tex]

Rounding to the nearest tenth

So, the answer will be surface area = 268.5 ft^2
