Answer:

Factors can be set to zero in order to find the solutions, which are the x-intercepts on a graph.

ex:

x^2 + 4x - 4

(x + 2)(x + 2)

x+2=0

x=-2

x+2=0

x=-2

-2 would be the only x-intercept on the graph.
