2x3 - 6x2 - 8x + 24 = 0
6 - 12 - 8x + 24 = 0
6 - 6 - 12 - 8x + 24 = 0 - 6
-12 - 8x + 24 = -6
-12 + 12 - 8x + 24 = -6 + 12
8x + 24 = 6
8x + 24 - 24 = 6 - 24
8x = - 18
8x/8 = -18/8
x = -2.25
Double check:
2x3 - 6x2 - 8(-2.25) + 24
6 - 12 - 18 + 24 = 0
