Each pronoun should agree with its antecedent in number.
For example: Jane bought the dress she liked. 
She agrees with the antecedent Jane in number, they are both singular.
You wouldn't be able to say:
Jane bought the dress they liked. 
It wouldn't refer to the same antecedent.
