x ,y are the numbers

x = 5y-3

x+y = 27

substitute first equation into the second

(5y-3) +y =27

combine like terms

6y-3=27

add 3 to each side

6y=30

divide by 6

y=5

x = 5y-3

x=5*5-3

x=22

the two numbers are 22 and 5
